Did not complete my request to wish my parents on their anniversary or add a sparkle to their dessert. Bad!! To state long lunch cruise is deceptive when the lunch is finished well before time only to repeat another round of dropping and picking passengers. What’s the point taking two rounds of the harbour??

Lovely cruise. Beautiful boat and friendly staff with delicious cocktails.
It was advertised as a seafood buffet however there was only smoked salmon and cold prawns as the seafood - no fresh fish or scallops or any other seafood. Only chicken and curry and rice and salad. I was disappointed, as I’m pescatarian (I don’t eat meat, only fish) and also celiac so I can’t have gluten - which meant I was limited to smoked salmon and salad and a couple prawns.

Service: The service on the cruise by the buffet staff was excellent - the bar staff seemed a little lost at first - could not find drink lists and had to wait for someone to come and help when we paid cash. The greeting staff were good but allowed large groups of overseas tourist on before others who were in the queue. All tables see allocated so I couldn’t see why they had to have precedence over other guests.
Product: Good variety, continuously replenished know one would have gone hungry.

At the time of booking there was a question of special diatery requierments.
We specified gluten free and lactose free. But unfortunately there was no lactose free and then we sent our feed back with full explanation.

Service: From purchasing tickets online to the lovely food and quick service to our seats once on board, this was very good.
The only down side was the 'circus' in getting aboard. Signage was not available to say that seafood buffet patrons were to gather at the bow of the vessel, and the other type of cruise were to gather towards the stern. An employee of the company (who was patient and trying his best) was assailed by many patrons requiring clarification with lots of shouting of directions and inability to be heard. Felt like being herded like animals...this could have been better handled to have a better experience.
Product: The seafood was very fresh, and there was lots of it, near empty trays were replenished regularly, there was a good choice of other food to pick from. The vegetable curry was particularly good.
Was not made aware that there was a coffee machine and filtered coffee available in another area.

Service: Easy on line booking experience. We boarded on time and were shown to our window table which had great views of Sydney harbour. We were served drinks quickly by a friendly and helpful member of staff. The buffet lunch was exceptional - great choice of seafood and salads. There was also a hot option (did not sample) as love seafood. Nice range of desserts, cheese and crackers. Coffee/tea available. Enjoyed informative and entertaining commentary about the harbour and it’s history. Great views of the Opera House and bridge. Would strongly recommend.

Service: The staff went out of their way to ensure that all went well and I was impressed with the way your staff reacted to a great influx of people especially at boarding time.
Your bar and waitress staff were exemplary offering top up drinks without having to wait until the drinks were finished.
It was my wife's birthday and the cabin waitress, without any request being made, produced a small cake with a sparkler - very thoughtful and to the delight of my wife.
The buffet food was good but somewhat frantic due to the number of guests at the buffet table.
All in all the buffet cruise was great value and I would recommend anyone to take the cruise.

Seniors Seafood Buffet Cruise – Captain Cook Cruises 17/02/2019 Review
The staff in the booking office were very pleasant and courteous as usual.This was the 5th or 6th year that 3 of my friends and I have been on the Seniors Seafood Buffet Cruise. Last year I complained about the absence of crab on the buffet and also that the price had risen by another $5.00. This year again there wasn't any crab on the buffet. In previous years there was a couple of meat dishes and a vegetable curry which was quite nice but there wasn't any meat except for some ham swimming in some kind of liquid and some chicken drumsticks also swimming in some kind of liquid. Also the price had risen by another $4.00 making it $59.00. I don't believe that the food was up to standard and there wasn’t much of it. Next year the price will probably be well into the $60s mark and I will be seriously considering if it is worth attending again. The quality and variety of the food was even lower than last year and I’m sorry but I can only give 3 stars as the standard has dropped since 2017 when I would have given 5 stars.

The Tyrells moon mountain which I buy on special at Dan Murphys for 20 dollars a bottle was the only average / decent quality wine available .

We hoped for better.
One glass of the Mawson had to be taken away . Obviously the bottle was open too long.
As I said , everything else was so good. Why let yourselves down with the wine list, especially today when so many people enjoy food and wine matching .
Anyway we will be back , but I hope this aspect improves . I’m happy to help with the wine selection if u ever want help.

Service: I use lunch and dinner cruises a few times a year either with close friends as a super-relaxed time out together or with overseas visitors to show them something truly different and special about Sydney. Your meal cruises fulfil those aims admirably.

Service: Well organised, good service, excellent cold seafood, good salads. Less than perfect was the hot food selection where the only really attractive dish was the chicken which was off the menu for one of us because it contained chilli.
Product: Easy to book, irritating to have to look up starting times. I should not have purchaes the drinks package, one of us is a non-drinker. Purchasing individual drink would have been cheaper.

Service: Joey our waiter was spotless! Marvelous food and drinks. We also got an amazing window table at the bow of the ship - I suggest you pay extra for this. And the weather was also perfect for it. Recommend!

Service: The cruise, the setting and the 3 course meal were all excellent. If I were to be critical it would be the slight evidence of confusion among the staff early in the cruise with their approach to addressing the drinks arrangements, the selection of the menu choice and then the actual bringing to the table. We seemed to sit for a long while with no contact on any front while some other tables were into their second course. There seemed to be a need for someone calling the shots and organising who was to go to which table etc. Another minor point, it is a pity there isn't a lift up to the top deck floor. I am having mobility problems currently and the steep steps presented some slight problems.

Service: I had read a lot of the negative reviews before booking and was a bit nervous I’d picked the wrong company but our experience was awesome! The service was great, very attentive and we had absolutely no problems getting drink service. The food was really nice and there was plenty of it. The Staff were really friendly and good with my 2 kids (3 and 8 years old). The views of course amazing. Overall totally worth it! And would definitely recommend.

Service: Food and Staff were Excellent. Marketing was confusing and ultimately a let-down. In buying the premier tickets, we expected we were going on a 3 hr full harbour cruise with commentary and a nice lunch. Instead we were going for a nice lunch (it was) on the harbour and getting shuttled between stops for the convenience of others, so we got off an hour early. That there was going to be no commentary was not evident until the money had been paid and it was on the receipt. It is all about managing expectations - if we had known what we were going to be in for we would have had lunch somewhere else and bought a 'proper' cruise, with commentary.

The cruise itself was informative and provided great views of iconic landmarks and the food was delicious with a good range considering it was only for lunch. Service staff were professional and friendly.

Lovely helpful staff from start to finish. From the order point on the phone, to meeting and serving our lunch. Couldn't be nicer. Food was great and arrived promptly.
The only comment I would make is to change your menu advertised on the website, as it was the 2017 menu and I thought it hadn't changed, but when the day came it was a bit different which was a good thing.

I highly recommend the top deck lunch cruise. The service was excellent and the food was superb. The cruise was to celebrate a birthday. The staff went out of their way to decorate the dessert and present it with a sparkler with very little notice. They even sang happy birthday when they brought out the dessert. Our waitress, Eesha (sp) was especially efficient and attentive to our requests.
Ship was very well presented and clean.
Our guest was celebrating his 80th birthday and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Product: Cruise was 3 1/2 hours and we thought that the route would include more of Sydney Harbour than it did.
The route was repetitive with time spent at Circular Quay and King Street Wharf. Last 1 1/2 hours a waste. Cruise to Manly, Balmoral, Hunters Hill & Parramatta River would improve experience.
We had no commentary in the top restaurant.

The only downside was the food - it was initially served upon boarding and then food service stopped within an hour of our two hour cruise. More food would have been nice as we didn't get to eat everything we wanted...

The ham, one of only 2 meat options separate from the seafood, ran out an hour into the cruise. It took the chef over half an hour to produce more, by which time you had to be quick to collect dessert because eveything began to be packed up 20mins before arriving at circular quay. The automated coffee machine started to produce watery hot chocolate with minimal cocoa (compared to earlier in the cruise) towards the end. A stunning boat, friendly attentive staff, but terrible food options given the cost.

Service: Drinks waiter confused our order and brought us a $55 bottle of wine (after charging our credit card) instead of a glass! Disappointed not to have the crab salad we had last year. Having said that we had a great outing, food was excellent and the trip was good value. Would certainly recommend it to friends. We have done the buffet lunch around Christmas 2 years in a row and would do it again next year.

We picked a terrific day and the boat was only about half full. Great commentary even for locals to learn more about our beautiful harbour. Only down side was the cost of a bottle of wine - $60 was a bit over the top for a $13 bottle

Service: Our group have taken this buffet lunch cruise 4 times over the past 5 years and this year were very disappointed with the experience. The buffet was quite limited, and not a lot of choice. One of our group had been on the exact same cruise 2 weeks earlier and the choice was better. The desserts were very poor with limited variety of fruit (the cheapest available it seemed) and the drinks were extremely expensive........$11-$12 for a glass of wine is highway robbery. On top of all that, the section was only half full and we were still crammed in with barely room to move, especially eating with no room to move your arms. Whilst we appreciated the window seating, we could not move from our seats backing on to the window as there was no room to move the seat back even a few centimetres to get out !! The staff came around taking our serviettes 45 minutes before the end of the cruise, like they were stopping guests from further eating. We will seriously not consider this again next year for our group.

Service: The food was very good and the service was excellent. The cruise itself was disappointing as we only had a short cruise before we went back to port to drop off the people who had the seafood buffet and picked up the high tea customers. Consequently the advertised 3 h cruise turned out to be 2 by 75 min cruises interrupted by 30 min at the wharf.

Service: We booked the Sirius private room for a group of 21 and had a very relaxed and enjoyable day. We were well attended throughout the cruise and I couldn't really fault it for the amount we paid. Amenities were all very clean and modern. We did however choose the premium drinks package which everyone had to be on (although about four in our group did not drink alcohol) - and on the day there "was not" Little Creatures beer on the menu as is advertised in the example drink menu on their website. Nor was there a suitable replacement for this. That was the only disappointment.

Service: Nice trip for older and younger in particular for family with babies or toddler. Your can have together a beautiful trip on the Sydney Harbour with guide and also taste an excellent Australian Long Dinner (Fish or Meat or Vegetarian as you prefer).

Service: The cruise was well organised, table seating was perfect - spaced so each table had ample space - , general atmosphere was quiet enough to talk and our waitress was genuinely lovely. The food options covered many dietary requirements and the food was really delicious. My friends can be hard to please but raved about the food.
The long lunch option is recommended as the shorter option would have meant we would have been rushing our meal. I would definitely recommend this option even to Sydney siders.

The actual cruise was great. The food was also good also maybe a little more variety would be better. I would have rated it 4.5- 5 stars stars however the manager was very rude, it was a lady, we explained we booked a buffet lunch and was told by Olivia the person we booked with that it would be 3.5hr cruise and after 2.5 hrs we were asked to get off the boat. when i tried to explain this manager was extremely rude did not want to listen.She just wanted to know why we didnt get off when she asked. Her service was absolutely discussing. Its a shame she ruined the experience for our group of 15. The manager needs to work on the people skills and service. The rest was just great.

Service: The overall experience was good but could have been great with the front desk experience from the pier and wharf desk. We had over 35+ guest for long lunch cruise and was placed in the private section of the ship. It was such a beautiful experience. Our staff complimented on the 3 course meal. It was delicious. We had a hiccup with guest seats but they quickly got that rectified and hassle free. They were accommodating.
The only bad experience I had was when the Pier desk only printed 25 onboard passes but I had increased the number of guests since my initial booking. The wharf 1 desk did not believe that I was supplied short and refused to provide the right number of boarding passes even after I have collected all 25 passes from all our staff to physically show her. Pier desk should have counted the passes to match what was on the amended record document. Luckily, I had the print out document. So she asked that I showed it to the staff onboard. Also, I was told that I could arrange the drink package when we get onboard but later asked to do so at the wharf 1 desk before the ship leaves so I had to run and pay this at wharf 1.
It would also be good to know when the desserts are being served. Most of us was on the deck and didnt realise that the dessert plates had been placed on our table.
Apart from that....It was good, and enjoyable experience.

Service: Booking office staff great as we were running late , waiter staff were all brand new and being trained so was a little frustrating as they were doing some random stuff and we had to keep calling them over to ask for things . Commentary about the harbour and attractions was welcome but not intrusive, we listened at times and ignored it easily when in our own conversation.
Product: Seafood was plentiful, nicely presented and topped up promptly by staff as required. We thought the quality of shellfish was very very good. Salads and Warm dishes were also appealing and tasty.
Tea and Coffee freely available and dessert with cheese and crackers also attractive and tasty, with staff kindly ensuring we knew about it (we were seated near to main buffet, well away from dessert station).

We were on the Long Lunch cruise and we were disappointed that their was no commentary . Service: The one stand out feature of our trip on Wednesday 24th October was the young lady that looked after us that day. We were up on the top deck for a long lunch. As I do not remember the name of the young lady perhaps you could look at your roster and tell her what asset she is to your business. The food was of a very good standard and the cruise itself was very enjoyable. The only criticism we have would be the dessert. We feel that they should serve cream or ice cream with the slices as they are a little dry without anything. Once again our congratulations to the young lass that served us, WELL DONE.

We did a lot of research before selecting the Long Lunch Cruise which was supposed to have been about 3 1/2 hours, but in the end it was only 2 hours long. We could have stayed on board for another loop around the harbour, but that would have taken another two hours and we would have missed our collection time. We should rather have chosen a cruise with a proper commentary.

We had booked our cruise for March. However, my wife suffered an illness just at that time which put her in a wheel-chair. Captain cook Cruises were very helpful in allowing us to postpone our cruise, which we then had two weeks ago. We are very grateful for the assistance we received getting on and off and for the personalised service given to us on the lower deck, by the lovely and friendly staff.
It is a big thing for us, that despite disability we can still enjoy so many things in life.

Service: We experienced very efficient service on arrival and during the luncheon. The charm and warm greeting by our attendant during the lunch, especially her extra effort made by Mickie when she learnt that it was to celebrate my husband's birthday by creating a small cake from the dessert, complete with candle and brought to our table with 'Happy Birthday' song. This just completed the wonderful experience we enjoyed.

Ensure that the waiters don’t get the order wrong as he did with me on more than one occasion. If cooking beef tenderloin to a medium request, that it is cooked right through and not raw in the middle as was mine. Service: Disappointed...we have been on lots of Captain Cook cruises and have loved them. This cruise was well below par. Food was sloppy and cold even though we were one of the first tables to eat after leaving Darling Harbour Wharf. Staff were standing around chatting and looking totally fed up, no energy or engaging with customers. The ship looked very untidy, items thrown in corners and just general mess. There was no music or running commentary. I took my husband for his birthday as we have many times before for family celebrations ( Xmas, Mothersday, Easter and Vivid also), but I am sad to say we will probably not be returning after the sad and disappointing cruise we had on Sunday.

Service: The visual experience was spectacular but the dining experience was underwhelming.The medium rare steak was overdone and quite dry.I commented about this to the lady who served us but there was no offer to rectify the situation.Her English was poor and she may not have understood.Cooking a steak is not rocket science and I am surprised that the task was beyond the so called chef.I thought that a coffee would be supplied in the cost of the meal.It was not.I received an instant coffee for $4.00.That's right...an instant coffee!If I was rating this on the food alone it would probably rate 1.5 stars.
Product: I already did.To summarise the medium rare steak was closer to well done and was dry and the coffee was an extra charge when it arrived was intant coffee not brewed.Also all staf should be able to communicate well in English.

Staff attentive, efficient & courteous - went the extra yard not only for my wife's birthday ( sparkler on her desert & sang happy birthday to her) but also to the couples either side celebrating wedding anniversaries ( sparklers on both dessert & verbal congratulations).
As I am still recovering from pulling both hamstrings they could see my wife's concern about the 24 steps down the toilet. They took the effort to check on me , without my being aware, & then advised her I was OK.

I had to call to make a booking as the is no option for infants online. I was assured that I could have a highchair for my 8 month old only to be told that they only offer a booster seat which was far too small for her to reach the table.
Whilst this was unpleasant, the service we received was great. They offered to move our table due to a large rowdy group next to us and the food was superb. Despite a rocky start, the whole 3.5hr cruise was a lovely day out.

Service: I would have given 5 stars except because of the train fiasco, i rang ahead as I didn't think my friend and would make it even though we managed to get a taxi from Turella train station it was touch and go. I asked the reception if they could still let my niece and husband board ( as they were over from Perth and i wanted to shout them the cruise )and if we didn't make it so be it that we would forfeit those fares. The answer I got was no even though i quoted the booking number etc. My email address was the same name as my credit card. I think in those circumstances with the rail network going down there could have been some understanding shown. We did make the cruise with a few minutes to spare and thoroughly enjoyed it as did my Niece and Husband.
Product: It's just always a wonderful way to see the harbour and enjoy a lovely lunch.

Service: Very friendly informative service. The wait staff explained the extra time on the cruise well which gave us the opportunity to have a rest before desert was served. Decaffinated coffee was found and served. We got some nice photos taken.

Service: I would definitely recommend Captain Cook cruises. We had a lovely day and found the staff outstanding. What a beautiful harbour to cruise around.
We did start out with a small problem where my daughter bought along an ice cream cake for my birthday and asked the staff to put it into the freezer. The cake was only put in the fridge and it melted. Your staff not only replaced our cake with another one but also gave us a free bottle of wine. And not only that we were given an extra trip around the harbour - just our little group on our own. We were more than impressed with the exceptional attention the staff on board provided us with. Every one left the boat so happy and loved the day. I don't think I have every been treated so well by staff anywhere. They were so lovely. Thanks again for a lovely day.
Product: A fantastic day with Captain Cook cruises on our beautiful harbour. Only one complaint the food does not cater enough for children. We had a 9 year old with us and not much appealed to him even though we'd paid a lot for his meal. We all thought there could have at least been fish and chips or chicken and chips or even pasta that appeals to children. Maybe worth looking into.

The crew could not have been more attentive and helpful. We loved the glass of whisky with sparklers to celebrate my husband's birthday, The seafood was plentiful and fresh. All in all a very enjoyable day.

The food was nice, but I felt like because I rode alone, the wait staff didn’t pay as much attention to me. I also thought the music (80s hits) didn’t match the vibe of the cruise and was a little obnoxious. The views were nice and I liked that rode past places multiple times so I could get plenty of pictures.

Service: We have been on this cruise at least four times now and have always enjoyed it very much .the only problem I could say we had was we would have liked a window seat and was told that we couldn't and yet there where tables at the window with no one at them also one waitress said she would organise our drinks and we are still waiting for her. luckily for us there was a lovely young man who helped us .yes we will go on the cruise again and yes we will be recommending it to others

Communication, MINUS ONE.
Tired to organise a birthday cake, seemed impossible, as no communication back from answer phone, and COMPLETE INABILITY to talk to anyone.
Food better than expected.
Shuffle between pick up and drop offs, longer and more than expected, but not a complaint Reality I guess.

Service: Service is OK. I booked a seafood buffet but didn't really meet our expectation of a seafood buffet. It's like a normal buffet in a 2-3 star hotel with seafood on the side.... The duration seems to be a bit short considering guests need to eat and see the views. We were mostly rushing up and rushing down.... Overall, it is good for a one-time experience.
Product: Not the seafoos buffet I was expecting. And the little seafood that was there don't taste very good.
