Garden Island - RAN Heritage Centre
- Free entry to the Royal Australian Heritage Centre and the 150 year old historic gardens adjacent to the Centre with its panoramic views of Sydney Harbour.
- The RAN Heritage Centre was opened in 2015 and contains some amazing artefacts including the conning tower of M22, one of the Japanese midget submarines that attacked Sydney Harbour in World War II.
- Visitors can stand in a simulated open bridge of a World War II destroyer and get a submariner’s view of Sydney Harbour through the only fully operational attack periscope available for public use in Australia.
- The centre also houses the popular Salthorse Café (Mon-Fri) offering inexpensive light lunches and beverages to visitors in a unique harbour foreshore location.
