  • Called Garden Island because it was planted in 1788 during the first few months of European settlement. 
  • Home to The Royal Australian Navy (RAN) Heritage Centre, which opened to the public in 2005. The Heritage Centre is
    - the official museum of the Royal Australian Navy
    - exhibits items such as weapons, clothing and personal mementos dating back 100+ years,
    - houses the conning tower from one of the Japanese midget submarines that attacked Sydney Harbour in 1942
  • Salthorse cafe is open to enjoy a light meal, coffee or cold drink with indoor and outdoor dining available
